Volunteer Opportunities

Thanks for your interest in volunteering. We would love to have your help as we continue to grow and nurture our wonderful community! The vast majority of our school events would not happen without help from parents & guardians.

Executive Board

  • PTA President: Serves as the primary PTA representative and liaison to ACCESS staff and the parent community. The president is responsible for setting the agenda and presiding over general PTA and executive committee meetings. This person also ensures that PTA remains in good standing with Oregon PTA and enforces ACCESS PTA Bylaws and Standing Rules. This position requires roughly 4 hours per month of meeting attendance and several hours (2-6) per week reading and responding to emails.
  • PTA Treasurer: Handle checks and deposits, prepares monthly financial statements for PTA meetings, prepare annual audit. Zero bookkeeping experience is necessary! We have clear procedures and helpful right tools in place, which helps this role be straightforward and routine. Ideally a shared position.
  • PTA Vice President: This position supports the President and assists in duties as needed, as determined by the PTA president. The vice president attends monthly general PTA and executive committee meetings, and is responsible for presiding over the meetings if the president is unavailable. Can be a shared position.
  • PTA Secretary: Takes minutes of meetings of PTA general membership and of meetings of PTA Executive Committee. Posts draft meeting summary notes after monthly meetings of PTA general membership. Maintains PTA administrative and procedural documents (standing rules, bylaws, corporate minute book, PTA membership list, PTA meeting attendee sign-in records). Can be a shared position.

There are many other important volunteer roles besides officer positions.  Many hands make for light work. Many roles are for one-time events, others require periodic check-ins (and can be arranged according to your schedule).
